That's the reason why Mark Sanders appeared in the factory of Pacific Cycles

They will be available in 700c, 26” and 20” wheel sizes and will include the patented 3D, 4-bar link technology that allows bikes to fold, almost instantly, into compact, "wheelable" packages.

As long as Pacific can keep the price affordable - it should be a winner. Their own bikes seem affordable (eg carry me, and even Reach), but Birdy still seems very pricey, at least here in the UK, (but OK in US at $850 ... envious thats £425 in UK ... they go for much more second hand)

Anyone know if their 20in wheeled version will run 406s or 451s? I believe the Reach runs 451s so this new model will probably do the same...

Sweet! I hope that the design is executed well.

I love Pacific Cycles too - their quality rocks! Just spoke today with the local dealer here and yes, the 20" version is confirm to come to Spore, maybe as early as Mar/Apr 08! Can't wait!

The fact that the first bike to incorporate the Swivelhead is going to be the Reach Racer (follow-up to the highly regarded Reach Road) makes me think that they probably will execute it well. Why would they make a bike that rides worse than it's predecessor....especially a race oriented road bike? The fact that they are setting the bar so high means that, even if they fail to attain, I doubt I'll be disappointed.
My comments are based on this gem from the Dabrom thread:

However to fit the airline approved size, you need to detach both front and rear wheels, fold the frame and put them all in a carrying bag.
The Racer version is designed specifically for pure performance, therefore panniers and mudguards are excluded but you can find them on the Trekking and Offroad models.
The gear ratio of the Racer version is racing oriented, but still achieves a wide range of 30"-117".
Unlike the mass production throwable bikes, all bikes by Pacific including Reach Racer are true gems. They take years from scratch to finish, fully hand-made, countless hours devoted, deserve its price.
