Si I am trying something I did not do before, posting a link to a page with a new cheap folder. Be patient with me if I am not successfull the first time.. http://www.biltema.no/

Then go all the way down to the bottom:(, and You`ll find the folder). 20" wheels, 3 gear simano hub, alu frame, 14 kg`s. 1.699,- kr is the price if you do some of the assembly yourself. some experience

Hi
I had one of those for a year. Good quality for the low price. First thing I did was swap the front chainring for a bigger one - with the original it was very slow. In my opinion it suits only for short rides - mainly because of the very erect riding position.
If you buy one make sure to keep the vertical handle-bar adjustment quick-release very tight while riding. I once fell nastily when the handle-bar rotated horizontally.

Useful information. Sure it is the same? This one is new in the "Spring 2008" catalouge. They used to have a different one. Steel frame, dfferent gearing (not an internal hub like this one), a bit heavier. As cheap as 1.300,- at a time. Did not ride it so I do not know. I only buy if I can find- or alter to a good ridingposition. I do not ride far for health reasons, and always with my dog so not fast. I like upright. Rebuilding a 20" folder for myself and want one for my son. At present this would be a bike to use on holydays and trips around town. Has got wayy to many other bikes for yhe long trips.

It is a new one. this one have have gears in the hub while the older had them outside of hub.
I guess all Biltema countries have it. Could be a good bike for the price. I like the upright sitting too.
The upper the better. :)

Just thought I'd help out with a direct link (though it looks like only other Scandinavians can help with the bike itself):

Thank you!:D

Hi
I finally visited the local Biltema, and yes – the bike is a new version as you said. This one gives an impression of even better quality than the former one. I’m sure it is worth that 179€. It is a tempting idea to order a Cruzbike http://www.cruzbike.com/kit.html toolkit and build a recumbent using this Biltema bike. One could add a front derailleur with a 3-speed crankset. Aren’t we lucky to live in a Nordic country? We have Biltema, Clas Ohlson and Sweden has the best neighbours in the world!

badmother 03-10-08 11:05 AM

Oh Yes!! I used to travel 120k km to the nearest Biltema and Claes Ohlsson. Now they are both only 17 kms away. That is what i call sivilisation:D.

I did not look at it yet, not in the shop the last time I was there. I am thinking of buying one or buying an older folder for £100 (forgot the name) and rebuild that one. I am tempted by the rebuild, but then I should try to reduce the bikework I do. Less working more riding. How is the gear ratio on a 3 krank chainring on this one?

That is what i call sivilisation:D.?
I agree.

Less working more riding.
I solved this by buying two Mercs - one is always ready for a ride.

How is the gear ratio on a 3 krank chainring on this one?
I don't know. But with my three speed Merc is quite good for winter riding, when 30 km/h is fast enough.
And if the 1st gear is low enough depends a lot on how fit you are, and the riding position - IMO bar-ends are must when climbing hils.
