Any lightweight suspension seatpost solutions?

Any lightweight suspension seatposts or seats available?
Any that will work with a Kore beam mount?
Anyone have knowledge of the ButtBuddy?
Ideal would be a Thudbuster on a Kore seatpost, but I do not know if it is possible.
Thanks

I think you can forget suspension with a Kore or I-Beam saddle/seatpost.

Your options are:
Dahon pogo suspension post
Dahon-sized Thudbuster ST or LT
Dahon adjustable seatpost (lower section) + any 27.2 suspension post for the upper.

Again you can source all the Dahon pieces via Thor or Gaerlan.
You can get generic 27.2 suspension seatposts anywhere.

e.g. if it ever gets released you could do the Dahon adjustable post (lower) + (upper) Ergon CR1 ... I think it might be less weight than typical suspension seatposts. And then cut down the Dahon lower post until you have the size just right (to save weight)...

This all assumes you have a Dahon

Yes, I have a REI Fly-By folder made by Dahon. It is similar to the Dahon MuXL Sport, but a little lower spec.

I would recommend a pair of Big Apples, pumped to 40psi.

How are the Big Apples for puncture resistance? I have Marathon Plus tires, which are very puncture resistant, but also very heavy.

Nothing is going to beat the Plus. I added Slime liners to my Big Apples after a few punctures. Since then zip.

From my own experience, I've had 305mm (16") Big Apples & both punctured within a few miles of fitting (65 psi)!

We usually have frequent punctures around here (lots of thorns), although only 1 over the last 3 weeks or so (shortly to increase no doubt now I've written that ;-) )

One of the regular BF contributors, EvilV, has legendary distances without punctures on the tyres fitted to his Merc, absolutely amazing.

Last year I briefly had a folder with SA 8 hub gears & spoke with the bike's designer, asking what frequency he had punctures on the fitted Marathon tyres, as I was worried about getting stuck refitting the rear wheel with what appeared to be very sensitive gears at the time. He thought about this for a moment, & said he didn't recall ever having a puncture on his bike!

When I mentioned that to my wife, she said "Where on earth does he ride?".

Maybe I should investigate the Plus version of the Marathon........

The Marathon Plus has excellent puncture resistance, maybe the best of any air tire.
I really like mine, but they are very heavy, as heavy as some airfree foam tires.

Since you would suffer no additional weight penalty above the Plus, and you have thorns, you might want to use a puncture proof tire from Airfree Tires.
You can get them customized to any "PSI feel".
Downside is, you cannot change that set "PSI feel" on different days.

I have the 1.35 version of the Marathon Plus and they are terrific tires.
I have never had a single flat with them, unlike my experiences with Stelvio, Marathon Slick ,etc.
Highly recommended if you are prone to punctures.

I got a puncture on my Big Apples hitting some 40 oz-er glass. It's "resistant" in that the 1/4" glass chunk stuck in the tire for about a mile before puncturing the tube. Low pressure on the BAs seems sluggish to me, and the shock absorption is a bit over-rated. Given the choice I'd wish I went with Marathons on high pressure. When I put a thudbuster on it was like going from a VW bug to a Cadillac in terms of a ride, ridiculously plush. The STs are 450 grams, the LTs 575 grams. Dunno about Kore mount though, think you have to go with Dahon solutions for that, or go with a new saddle.

With just some 1.75" tires (Tioga Pool Comps) pumped to 60 lbs, a ThudBuster LT seat post and some foam hand grips, my originally very rough riding Boardwalk S1 is now really comfy.

Take the tires down to 40lbs and it's a slug, though.
