The drive thru thing I understand. I worked at McDonald's for a few years during high school. While I would occasionally break the rules and serve a pedestrian or cyclist through the window, you're much more vulnerable to potential robbery than by a motorist. Its a lot easier to get your arm through the window while on a bike than it is while in a car.
