New strida with speeddrive crank is released.

Here in south korea, a new strida with speeddrive crank option is just released.

Its price is 857,000 won (around $800), about $250 more expensive than normal strida 5.0.

By any chance can the Speed Drive work on the 5.0? If not, is that because it will not fit in older bracket housings or it won't be sold as a retro-fit?

edit: Just re-read your post. Is the option itself $250 more than the Strida 5.0 or is the complete Speed Drive Strida $250 more?

And what about the gearing?

trueno92 09-01-08 03:31 PM

i was riding mine in downtown toronto - single speed version. I am actually content with the gearing now.. either im spinning smoother or in downtown road traffic, it takes kahunas the size of watermelons to go faster than what im already maxing out at, between cars.

should be pretty enjoyable, and i'd love to hear riders opinions. its good to see that mr sanders ideas of the smoothened outer lip on the crankwheel.

looks like it will be the standard 59 gear inch with a 1.6x overdrive.

pretty sweet, but damn i'm already almost completed my fixed gear fuji track 2007....

Mmmm....

Now that is ding dong.. :p

Better hope it's something more manageable.. that would give you around a 97 gear inch.. that's pretty aggressive ..

Oof, I couldn't pedal a 97 inch gear, no way. Bike does look good in red, though.

The pulley looks smaller than normal, so low will be lower than current single speed (53" not 59). I wonder if its a retro fit ? (dont see why not).

The Korean shop also sells 18" wheels and tyres.

that link you posted has some great prices for the stridas. anyone know why they a lot cheaper in korea? anyone bought from korea and shipped to the US? does that kill the great price?

these bikes would be good with some kind o gearbox...or G Box..
overdrive built into it. Then pulleys or cogs in a small size
