What to upgrade my Birdy Touring with?
I've had my "Touring" for a year and it's in standard fit and use it every day for my commute. I love it!
I now have the opportunity of spending up to £1k on upgrading it, not that I'd necessarily want to spend that much.
Anyone done something similar or have any suggestions for good and logical upgrades?
Cheers
PS Failing that, it will be a reasonably specced Xootr!

Upgrading: the question to ask is, is there anything that you're not 100% happy with? Upgrade that.
Failing that, you can always go the weight weenie way. A nice set of light strong wheels is usually well spent.

Jur, it's your Xootr that has tempted me!
I've always found the gears a little imprecise so might start there.
Any particular wheels you'd suggest?

I went with a SRAM trigger shifter for my Birdy (Sachs 3x8 dualdrive) .. that made a big difference in shifting preciseness .. I left the left side 3spd gripshifter as it works fine.... you probably have the Shimano Intego system, so, assuming you have a twist grip for the derailleur, there might be something you can do for improvement with a replacement to a trigger shifter.. the high spoke count rear wheel for the 3x8 hub will limit your choices that would make a big difference in weight .. the 24h front is already reasonably light.. if the money was burning a hole, you could build up a very lightweight, low spoke count wheel set without the dualdrive and mount Stelvios, and see a noticeable difference in acceleration and feel.. if it were me, I'd leave the Touring alone as it is, and buy a Xootr to mod ...

Anyone have any suggestions for wheels? Googling isn't that useful.
Aerospoke are nice although I'm not sure they'll fit.

As I haven't had my Birdy for long, I haven't looked for wheelsets or anything like that... Contact J Gaerlan who has sold Birdies and who builds great wheels, I'm sure he could make a suggestion.
I am thinking in the direction of having 2 wheelsets, one for work and one for play, the latter a low spoke count set with AMC rear hub; dunno what the front hub would take. The new Birdy hub looks nice, perhaps you could lay hold of one for the play wheel. For rims, I suppose Alex rims?
