Dahon Smooth Hound 2008?

Does anyone know if Dahon will be shipping the Dahon Smooth Hound 2008?

Unlike the 2007 version, the 2008 version is P.A.Q design and will pack into a very small package. As far as I know only the 2007 versions are available in the USA. The 2008 version is available in Japan and Hong Kong.

I love the bike but need it to pack on my air travels. Only the 2008 meets my specifications. (I think). Has anyone traveled with a Smooth Hound 2007 non folding model?

The SH 07 is the same frame as the 06 Hammerhead. It doesn't fold. To get it in the bike of my car I have to pull the front wheel off. Putting the thing on an aircraft would be quite difficult, I should think, unless you got a large shipping bike box from a dealer and put the thing in there with both wheels off.

How many do you want? FoldingBikesUSA.com in Arlington Heights, IL shows them in stock. Here is the link,

I have a 2007 that I love. I only use it for local stuff.

Thanks for the lead. I notice that it is "not yet available" and does not have the PAQ technology to break down the bike. It also does not have the suspension fork which appears on the 2007 models.

Update*** Joe at Folding Bikes USA did get back to me quickly by email on the 4th of July. The 2008 Smooth Hound was a typo. It was uploaded to their website by Dahon in the earlier part of the year while they were considering making it available in the USA. They also have the 2007 Smooth Hound available.

What is a fair price for a 2007 Smooth Hound? Is the suspension fork very effective?

The fork irons out the road nicely - it feels like you are riding a large wheel with large tyres - but you have all the advantages of small wheels.

I purchased the 2007 Smooth Hound that was on the SF Craig's List. I paid $375.00. The bike looks brand new. The tires still have the little nipples. It rides GREAT! It is a lot of bike for the price.
Thanks for your help in my decision making!
