Hello, i decided to buy two folding bikes for my 3 years olds. Pls, can you recommend the best folding bike for a toddler? I suppose, to start with 14''....

I don't know of any folders for children of that age. Bikes to fit a child that age are pretty small already so there is no motivation to add complication by making them yet smaller. What I do remember is that I bought a series of small bikes for my three boys as they grew up and at the younger age, the bikes were VERY heavy for their size and for the strength of the boys. It was a thankless business, because they outgrow them so fast, so you are constantly getting new ones. Also, when they are young, they tend to want to abandon the bike when things get a bit tough, so you are left having to drag it and the child back home somehow. This is not a lot of fun. You must have often seen parents carrying bikes followed by a winging child. Toddlers have neither physical staying-power, or a long attentions span so they soon tire and get bored with riding. Playing about in the garden or yard with a bike is what they want to do, rather than actually doing a journey - even one just around the local park.

By the time my eldest lad was eight, he could ride a decent 24inch wheeled bike with a range of gears and he and I went on a cycling tour. We rode 68 miles the first day, 25 the second and 56 on the third. I was very proud of his effort, but I suspect that these days, twenty years later, such an enterprise on roads would be regarded as being child abuse. Nowadays, I expect he would be siezed by social workers and taken into care, on the grounds that I recklessly endangered his life. In some ways, it was pretty dangerous, we had a few worrying moments on busy stretches of road.

Hi again, yes thats what i mean, if i have to carry two bikes after my twins abandon them i prefer them folding.....and seriously its better if u have to travel abroad to transport the bike too...But if you think there arent folding bikes for kids ,you are wrong......just see that what i know already but was just interested if you know something else https://agritool.czyunlong.cn/ And here is what I found about folding bikes in the UK: https://www.atob.org.uk/price_tag.html But if u know something better, tell me. Check out https://www.striderbikes.com I have one for my 1.5 yr old and she loves it. It is the lightest & shortest running bike for kids. FYI bigger kids can fly on these.

that specs you gave: I read "steel" everywhere... as EvilV said: kids bikes are already VERY heavy - considering the strength and size of the bikes. They are often as heavy as adult bikes. A folding bike is probably going to be heavier still since the folding mechanisms add kilos. Not much fun for the kid.
A famous running bike is the "like a bike" made out of wood which is light and for toddlers from 2 years and up. I would think that's a good way to start.

A folding bike company with good reputation here in the forum is Pacific cycles.

I will second the recommendation for LikeABikes - my daughter started on one at age 3 and was biking to nursery school... now at 5 she is riding a real bike with no training wheels.

at least the puky brand is good quality and lightweight and not like the behemoth folding thingies ...
And dont look at those roller skater wheeled bikes ... these are usually worthless ...
born out of the rapid fall of the alloy platform scooter a couple years back.... they were all the rage and than one day after the next nobody boaught one anymore.... so the taiwaneses builder were looking for anythinmg to get rid of their wheels stock ..lol ( I am not kidding) Talking about clown bikes..lol

Actually, I saw a small boy scooting one of these in the park last week while I was walking the dog. He'd have been about three or maybe four at the most. He seemed to have been proceeding faster than his mother since he was way ahead of her and grinning. Of course, I don't know how far they had come and for all I know he may have burst into tears and abandoned it half a mile later.

You propel these in the same way as the early 'hobby horse' bicycles of the early nineteenth century.
