My replacement Dahon Mu SL has arrived
My second MU SL arrived yesterday from Fisher Outdoor via Winstanleys. Came in a big box and had already been assembled. Took me a while to unpack it from all the tape and bubble wrap.
Set it up once I got home and fitted my lights.... I have a small Topeak rear LED that I converted by making a black kaydex bracket and fitting it to the underside of my saddle. It works rather well and looks neat. This time I got the small pot of touch up paint, the leg strap and reflectors that were missing from my first MU SL. I have not fitted the reflectors as I don’t really like them and anyway, I figure if people can’t see my hi vis jacket with reflective trim and lights then the reflectors aren’t going to make a lot of difference! I have done about 14 miles on the bike today as I had to drop one of my cars at a garage.... one thing I do know is that this 20” wheeled bike won’t fit into the boot of my sports car, and I’m not sure if a Brompton would either. Anyhow, bike rides well and there is no hint of the frame hinge problem I had with the first MU SL. |
my MU SL with all upgrades, still fits just fine in the trunk of my Sports Car
I just took it out of it in fact :D |
While not a sports car, I own a small Neon and my MuSL with bullhorns (which adds about 6") fits in height-wise into the trunk. That stinks if it won't fit since the portability is one of the benefits, but maybe you can place it in the passenger seat? Depends on how particular you are about car (possible grease, dirt, scratches, etc. on the interior). Me, I've fit 3 folders in the interior before and that's with my daughter. :)
As for the Brompton's fold, the only one I've seen in person seemed to have a smaller footprint than the MuSL when folded. |
