Deuter Pannier for Speed TR

anybody have anything to say about these? Local bike shop has these here in Japan. I was about to order Arkel T-28's for my speed TR but saw these. They are just a little bigger than the Arkel's.

I really like those. It looks like it uses the Ortlieb QL1 attachment system which I like a lot. And has large capacity for front panniers. I've been researching front panniers and these will be on my short list with Ortlieb sport packer and front rollers. The Deuters definitely wins in capacity category.

I have a set of those. Tomorrow morning early my wife & I are going on a loaded bike tour, on Kangaroo Island. I am carrying 5kg in each of those on the back, and the bed rolls on the front.

They have the Ortlieb fastening system which works very well.

They are not waterproof. I rode in a downpour from work the other day and when I checked at home, there was water in the bottom. I think it sneaked in somewhere at the bottom. I had the shower cap on.

There are no extra pockets inside which I would have liked.

Deuter makes good stuff. As Jur points out, they aren't waterproof (most panniers aren't). Fortunately you can line them with garbage bags and you'll be fine.

One critical factor though is ground clearance. I'm not sure which rack comes with the TR, but on my D7 the rack was far too low and even small panniers occasionally scraped on the ground.

On a related note. Anyone try these on the Dahon Front Rack?

Thanks guys. I have the Tour rack on my Speed TR. I don't think they'd work on the arclight rack on my Speed P8 either since it does sit pretty low.

I also have a Trek SU 2.0 with a Topeak MTX rack on it and the panniers will do double duty on that bike as well.
