Vic, a Tikit fender question for you please
I've got both a Seasons Tikit and a regular Tikit now and I want to switch to rear fender/rack to one and the solo fender to the other. The regular Tikit solo fender "hoop" support doesn't seem to fit well on the Seasons Tikit mounts. I asked bike friday and they said it's the same. Maybe for the rack, but I see that you have both types and in a photo it looks like they are different. Is there any way you could confirm that for me?
The photo is titled "Tikit two.jpg" I think it's the wall that "Manager" is stenciled on. No rush on this. It'll be about two weeks for the wheel rebuild I have going to be finished. |

Here's the photo. It's got both types and the single hoop support looks a different length to me.

I'm not good enough to actually measure it, but those hoops look exactly the same. The key difference is WHERE in relation to the axle the hoop is mounted.

Do they look different because you're looking at the left side of the regular Tikit's rear wheel and the right side of the other?

Vik has had at least two tikits at different times, and at one point had a medium and a large. The pictures may be showing two different classes of the same bike, so that may account for a difference in clearance, angle, etc. even if the same part is used.

The photo is titled "Tikit two.jpg" I think it's the wall that "Manager" is stenciled on. No rush on this. It'll be about two weeks for the wheel rebuild I have going to be finished. A quick measurement of my Tikits shows that the standard Tikit fender strut is about 1" longer vertically. Although keep in mind my Seasons was a prototype and may not reflect the dimensions of a current production bike. I didn't remove my fender strut when I mounted my rear rack so you can just leave it in place and swap the rack to the other Tikit. If you only have one set of struts ask BF to send you a second set for the Tikit that didn't come with one. |
Okay, much thanks. I can see the mounting points now. On the regular Tikit it's about in the center of the curve connecting the seat and chain stays. On the Seasons Tikit the mounting point is almost the level of the seat stay, so it has to be shorter. Now I got to order a Seasons solo "hoop" fender bracket thing.
Thanks again Vic. |
