I've noticed a couple of people on this forum actually own both a Mezzo (Ori) AND a Bike Friday Tikit.

I've really had my heart set on scoring a Bike Friday Tikit but I realize that I will really have to wait for a year or so until I visit the US or Canada.

I live in Taiwan and the prices for special ordering them from the USA to Taiwan are just way too high.

I'm wondering if there are any people who might actually own both a MEZZO / ORI bike and a TIKIT?

I'm quite curious about any comparisons someone might be able to offer.

I've actually ridden both of them but for only a very short time during a test ride. I didn't get a chance to test them for more than five minutes.

I'm wondering if anyone can comment on which one they might find more convenient for daily commuting, folding, handling, comfort, upgrade options etc...

I know its a tall order, but I'm wondering if anyone might be in a position to compare.

No experience of the Tikit, but I would expect both bikes to fold in about the same time. The tikit is thought to be quicker but the Mezzo is quick enought to do what the Tikit can IMO as reguards fast transport access. The mezzo bag is good for commuting, but results in the need to remove it,if folding,however this only takes about 10 secounds maxium. Tricki s' are available in larger sizers also the mezzo is not. If small ness of size is important then the mezzo is smaller.

I would love to try a tikit also.

Looks like Tikit rides better,but the mezzo can be upgraded.(see my threads if you wish).
I see them as forfilling very different roles really,which might explain why some people own one of each.I would not replace my mezzo with a Tikit , but I would buy one in addition to the two mezzos I have.

I have never seen a mezzo in my life, except online. But...

If the above video is any indication, the Tikit hyperfold both unfolds and folds significantly faster than the Mezzo.

Except for the M10 superlight, which is identical to the Tikit's gearing, the Ori models appear to generally have both a worse bottom end and a slightly worse top end than the Tikit. The Mezzo deviates a bit from that. Online the ad copy talks about the Mezzo having a Capreo -- but I don't see it either on the Mezzo or Ori specs.

It appears to me that the Mezzo's got better components.

The tikit weighs quite a bit less in most configurations.

In Britain, the Mezzo costs a lot less than the Tikit. In the US the Mezzo/Ori apparently doesn't exist. :-)

What concerns me about the mezzo is that it looks to have the same cramped issues as the Brompton. Its wheelbase is a full 58mm shorter than the Brompton (and medium Tikit), and BikeRadar complained of a cramped position. Here the Tikit is particularly good as it comes in three sizes.

The Mezzo also apparently feels stabler than the Brompton. Stabler than the Tikit, I dunno (can't find the amount of trail anywhere for the Mezzo). My guess would be no, but who knows.

Overall the Mezzo looks like an impressive bike to me, well thought out, though a bit heavy.
