Hello all
Hi everyone,
Been lurking for a while but now joined the fold with a used Dahon Speed D7 (2006 model). http://oelph.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/my-dahon.jpg Quick question - what's the best way of securing the seat post (which seems to be the only quickly removable part) when the bike is locked up outside? A small chain permenantly attached from seat to frame? |
Welcome to the fold!
Bolt on seatpost clamp like this one: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...p.aspx?sc=FRGL Make sure you get the right diameter size when you order it or get it at your LBS. |
Better still, don't lock it up outside - the beauty of folders is that you can take them with you.

yes. why locked up a folder? it's never the intention of the folding bike makers to have their bike locked up outside. plus that thing of beauty should never be exposed to the elements.
btw, that's a nice used dahon. |
I dangle a cable lock from the saddle rails. Then when parked, I lock the frame and rear wheel to the rack with a U-lock. And lock the cable lock either to the rack, or to the bicycle frame.
This is a low crime area where I feel confident doing so. YMMV. |
Thanks for the suggestions.
Why lock up? There are many shops that won't let you take a folded bike in. Or you might be popping in for 5 minutes and its quicker to just lock it up. Or if I cycle into town and want to wander the shops I'll want to lock up the bike rather than drag it around with me. |
