Ez pack folding bike update

so my bike came in yesterday and i put it together today...very easy

there is a small crack in the chain guard. not a problem really.

my issue is that the chain rubs against itself whenever i pedal.

can anyone help?

i will post pictures later.

Post a picture where it rubs so we can help.

Rubs against itself? You mean where the the small chainring and large one meet? Maybe the back wheel is not aligned. I was kinda interested in this bike too.

Larry( of ridethisbike.com) said this is rare but easily fixable.

the chain is rubbing on the right side. my bike anatomy terms are terrible. im entry level road (1 month ago and now i got this)

the right side of the chain where it looks like an hourglass outline.

the top < and bottom < sections are rubbing.

the bike is a double crank i believe.

add a spacer maybe? Not sure if you can, but an idea.

Did you mean to say that the chains are rubbing against each other?

In that case, you might want to try getting a more narrow chain. Those chains look pretty fat to me.

Or, you can push the rivets away on each side, but that is laborious.

Something must be bent....so you should probably find out what it is and bend it back.

abstractform20 05-12-09 07:42 PM

if i bend it, is there a good chance i might damage the integrity of the frame, etc?

can i use a mallet/hammer? whats best?

abstractform20 05-12-09 07:44 PM

does this help more?

When the chain goes around does it rub the whole time or just on and off? If not then it's probably one of the cogs that's bent (so no worries about the frame). Try to bend it with your hands if you can (less chance of overdoing it).

I hope you know that the dual drive is a very unusual setup that's not really used by any popular folders.
