I 'twentyd' my tote cycle!
Before
After
I don't have a long enough chain yet and I'm confobulating a cable stop for the three speed cable. About 50 hrs so far and $300.

That is beautiful. How is that shifter mounted? And can you reach it when riding without too much trouble? I've been trying to figure out if I can mount a similar shifter on my bike. That is a great job.

Thats a good job you did on your bike
do you think you can reach the gear shift while cycling tho
I know that early front deraileurs had a lever on the mech that you flicked to change gear.
I built a recumbent chopper ages ago. I mounted the gear levers on the top tube and it was very difficult to shift gears on it.

Very beautiful - you must have the proud tingles right about now!
Double front chain-ring? Or is the plan to lose the inner one when you get the chain..?

The bike shifts fine you can whack the shifter without looking down. The shifter is mounted on a little piece of 1/2" pipe I stick welded to the frame. (out of O2 that day). I ended up putting the large chainring inside out on the inside and the little ring on the ouside to get a decent chainline. I've gotten the "they make shorter bolts" comment so many times I'm just going to leave it.

nice job. i remember you post when you first bought that bike. you really did great on the restoration. it seems that you had gold, silver and black chain color in there. was that on purpose or you just have some extra links that you decided to used ?

This bike has a longer wheelbase than my Schwinn Corvette. I couldn't get any more gold so a lbs gave me the silver. Then I needed a half link (black) to get it right.
