SOS -- any Friday owners out there?

I'm half way through the Friday pack (Pocket Rocket) and can't for the life of me figure out how to fold the seat post forward. I know I did it before -- twice in fact, once when I brought the bike back from Portland, and once when I did a trial packing run a while back. But it just doesn't seem to want to move.

Any bright ideas?

Panic over.

It just needed a bit of a whack with the fist.

great thread!

We could get into a discussion over whether it should be a closed fist or open-handed whack to the seatpost, or even better how this never happens with a Brompton or a Dahon!

I'm going to put it down to user incompetence rather than superior design of rival bikes.

But then I would, wouldn't I? I'm hardly going to admit I bought the wrong bike. :)

Next time take some pictures / notes, then print them out and stick them in your packing case.

just wanted to add another post here. Wasted your time looking at this didn't you !

Actually, several things can be learned from this seemingly "silly" original post:
1) Fold and unfold your bike every once in awhile. You will reinforce mentally how to do it, and it will lessen the possibility of things freezing up.
2) Keep folding joints and take-apart surfaces (handlebars) lubricated.

Just because I'm not a folding bike expert, you don't need to make me feel an inch high here. :) Maybe I should take on the job of being the resident folding bike forum idiot. Is it vacant?

Anyways, the nicely reassembled bike had its first outing on British roads today, and survived quite nicely (although I do admit to riding once on the wrong side of the street as I went from bike lane to empty residential road). I've still not quite managed to fit the front wheel so I can close the brakes, but I will work that one out by myself rather than offering y'all more amusement by asking dumb questions.

Happy riding out there.

Ouch!

I nearly have to physically abuse my Pocket Llama in order to get it to fold, too. The hinges are pretty stiff!

Thank you for making me feel better Abney.
