New Ortlieb handlebar bag (photo)
This could be the worst photo in history but just got my Ortlieb Ultimate 5 Plus handlebar bag in from Wayne at The Touring Store.com http://www.thetouringstore.com/
Wayne is good to go. He edu-ma-cated me via email and pointed out some things I didn't pick up on and gave me excellent advise on the bag sizing. After swapping a few emails he steered me in the right direction and I placed an order. Guy took the time and threw a hand written note in and a couple of pieces of candy (to the great appreciation of my daughter) in with his cards. Very nice touches. Not a deal maker or deal breaker but nice touches and shows me he gives just that little bit extra to his customers on both ends of the sale. Attaboy to The Touring Store. This bag is bound for my Dahon Speed TR but my daughter has a Klickfix bracket on her bike (Ignio Folding Bike) and her bike is here and my Speed TR is at work. Again, a crummy pic but this bag is cool. And one things for sure. You can't miss it. It'll look better on the Dahon I think mounted lower. Here's a couple better pics mounted on the Speed P8. Their locking mechanism is cool however the mounting bracket is secured by wire (WTF?) A pair of side cutters and it's gone. It would take a thief longer to unscrew a couple of allen bolts from a regular clamp.

I was thinking it that it would be difficult to mount any lights on the handlebar.
And then I remembered you had a dynamo light lower down. http://img.skitch.com/20090622-cww6u...d1.preview.jpg Click for full size - Uploaded with plasq's Skitch http://img.skitch.com/20090622-kswx8...ri.preview.jpg Click for full size - Uploaded with plasq's Skitch |
Is that a cup holder mounted by the computer? :D
|
No... looks more like a Parrots seed dish :D
|
A tray for loose change? :D
|
My Ortlieb Ultimate is mounted on the headset of my Curve with a KlickFix bracket, and I love it! (I can now use the same handlebar bag all all of my bikes.)
If you can get that rig to fold (the first photo), I'm very impressed! |
I tried a Topeak handlebar bag once, had to return it since I couldn't fold the bike with the bracket on the bar.
How does yours fold, John? Cheers. |

Yes. That is a coffee cup holder. Go to ebay and search OR8. I have three of them. I'm a coffee fan and there are a couple two or three Starbucks within a couple miles of me. When the going gets tough (or I get bored as crap) I ride and get a cup of coffee.
NOTE: I'm aware of the "I hate Starbucks and it's not real coffee" phenomenon. But cut me some slack. I live in Okinawa and we gots what we gots. John |
I didn't find the OR8 on eBay (admittedly, I searched the US eBay), but I did find this: http://www.bicyclecoffeesystems.com/
