The stupid helmet wars thread
Thread expecting you all to be interested in bicycling, instead of bicycles now evolved into male-dominated thread about Helmet Nazis. (not my words).
You people really out to get out more.

Beach riding this last weekend here in San Buenaventura, CA (AKA: Ventura, CA) along bike path at Surfer's Point.
Grandson is on wife's Pocket Crusoe, and the wife is on my NWT. Our daughter is riding the Blue Cruiser.
I had to make do on my single-speed Electra Cruiser.
Grandson is 11 yrs old, 5'1" and a 3rd year track racer. He loved the BF, and quickly figured out it had good acceleration and mobility. He thought it would be great for attacking in the curves!

I knew when I posted the picture there'd be a comment on the lack of helmets on the adults heads.
In Ventura, only those age 16 & under are required to wear helmets. When "cruising" we don't wear them, just like 90% of the other cruisers. On longer rides, usually on faster more heavily trafficked roads, we do.
When at our home in Vancouver, WA everyone is required to wear them.
We are also old enough to remember the days when bike helmets didn't even exist - that's what being in your mid-60's gets you. We used to ride our Schwinn Varsitys with out them, and head injuries didn't abound.
We are "pro-choice" on helmets, to steal a term.

As for male dominated - it's a forum free for all to join. The more women the better as far as I'm concerned.
As for us getting out more - maybe your suffering from the unaccustomed heat. 30C is not something we Brits usually expect to see here in our little island. It makes some people cranky - obviously.

Ummmm, getting back to the OP Snafu21,
Can you please post that pic you deleted? I want to copy it and put it as my desktop...please.
PS: I'm all for healthy arguments about wearing/not wearing helmets, but can we get back to nice pics about where you're riding?
PPS: I have NASTY permanent scars on my head from helmet straps that sliced my scalp up after being hit by a car, they also sliced off the top of my left ear. Did the helmet save my life? Who knows?
