Mu P24 a suggestion to owners

I have a 2008 Dahon Mu P24 which I am happy with. However I flatted the other day and when fixing it, noticed that the flat was caused due to the inner tube rubbing against the spoke holes in the wheel rim. The thin rim tape that was installed seems woefully inadequate. I have since added rim tape to both wheels, a cheap and easy fix I wanted to pass along to others so hopefully they will not have to repair a unnecessary flat in dark of night or inclement weather.

Great advice! Unfortunately, this has been a problem on most every bike I've owned.

you got that one right ........ its one of the lousiest parts of the bike and in 98 % of all cases just plain inadequate ..... and its not only on cheap bikes either ....

WHile I was working at a bike company in Germany years past ,, we developed a machine to make our own .... it was basically a strapping machine, which welded the strap under tension and than it snapped onto the rim. worked very well . but was tricky as if the weld is too hot it was stretching and than it ripped right there....

For somebody who goes on big tour or commutes every day it is a good investment to buy some schwalbe high performance rim strips.. kinda expensive for what they are but nicely made

Another option is using velo plugs. I have them on my wheels and they work great. Note that they come in two sizes.

I have not owned that many bikes yet, but this is the first time it has been a problem for me. I'll check my other bikes from now on. I may look into the mentioned velo plugs as well. Thanks.
