Almost Black Dahon MuP8
 

Shipped my MuP8 foldie to Ie Shima Japan as I'll be working here for the next couple of months. I've slowly but surely been converting it over to black parts partially because I have a Speed P8 which is black trimmed and I bought a Dynamo hub which is silver, so I've been robbing parts and gradually making the change.

All I need now is to either rob the crank or get a black one at a local shop.

Is it true that in Japan we have to fold and put the bike inside a bag if we take it on the train or bus ?

No, no, no, go search for white parts ;) . . .

jogya......I sure hope not because I don't have my bike bag with me.

I have read that on the JR West Rail English web page though that they want foldies in bags or something to that effect.

Rinko bags... Because of crowds on trains/busses, Japan does want you to put bikes into bags. Bike shops sell purpose built bags, but large trash bags and duct tape will suffice in a pinch. The key is they want the chain and gears wrapped up. Good luck riding in Japan.

Probably a lot more enforcement in Tokyo or Osaka. As it is I live in a very rural area of Japan and haven't had anybody say anything yet. That being said I've only been on the train a few times with a bike and do usually carry my bike bag. Forgot it once and nary a peep.
