Mezzo chain drop
Hi,
I have a Mezzo D10, and occasionally the chain is prone to dropping from the front chainring. I've managed to solve most of the chain drops to the outside (by which I mean away from the bike frame) by swapping the 56T with a 53T chainring, and using the old 56T as the outer chainguard.
However, the chain can still drop to the inside, and this is risky as it ends up running along the road, and could be dangerous as the times it's happened the chain seems to catch, causing the bike to suddenly stop. I'm trying to think of a way to avoid this chaindrop by using a chain guide of some kind. Any suggestions would be welcome!
The other option would be to switch to a Shimano IHG (e.g. nexus/alfine) but that looks expensive and complicated.
Thanks,
Fred.

I don't know if you can put some kind of plastic clamped on the seat tube, to "push back" just in case the chain jumped out, like some dahon models have. At least I have seen it on MUP8 and speed P8.

As a follow up for anyone with a Mezzo D10 chain drop problem - in the UK new D10s are shipped with a small chain guard to prevent drop. This is a small plastic device which is fitted to the down tube, and prevents chain drop to the inside of the chain ring. I've been using one for about two weeks with no chain drop problems. I contacted my Mezzo supplier, who provided one free of charge as an aftermarket service.
