Need Info on a Dahon Espresso
 

Hola, everyone!

This is my first post in the Folding Bikes forum, mainly because I didn't think I'd ever be getting one so quickly. I was looking for a bike for commuting and a friend of mine had a Dahon (can't remember which, but may have been one of the Mu models) and started asking questions. Turns out another friend of ours had a Dahon Espresso sitting in his garage that he wasn't using. He had purchased it for travel, but being a rather tall guy, he didn't feel like the fit was right, so had purchased another bike and left this one in his garage. So now it's mine for the price of gas over to his place. It fits me wonderfully and I'm looking forward to getting some good use out of it.

I do want to find some additional information on this bike. I looked at Dahon's website and the frame looks different than the 2009 and 2008 models, so I know it's at least three years old. If anyone here can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it!

Welcome to the fold. Dahon only puts the two previous years on their website now. Try doing a search in this forum.

That's a pre-rebar frame Espresso that is. Looks in good order too, with a suspension seatpost. I think it's pre- 2006, maybe a 2004 bike.

Quite rare, I suspect, I've not seen one in London where Espressos are almost as common as red buses. It does look extremely nice.

Congratulations. A lucky find. As it's been unused for a while check the wheels are true, the brake pads and wheel rims are clean, and the spoke tensions are ok before you go far

. Sometimes, bikes get retired for a minor fault which then gets forgotten about. :-)

I gave it a good ride yesterday and quite enjoyed it. I did find that I tune up is definitely in order for the breaks, but other than that it rode like a dream. :-) Thankfully the only "fault" it had for the previous owner was being a little too small. Thanks for the time frame; gives me a starting point.

The logo and latch for the frame fold match what I have. I'll be posting some pictures of it soon to be sure. :-)

It does look as though it could be sweet ride. Nice stiff frame and all that. I even like the colour. Are there any more free ones hanging around? :-)
