Thought it was a pretty good read. Gave me a context for other folding bikes as well (since I don't know much about them). Highly recommended for Brompton owners and others just interested in folding bikes.

One reader says: "The author is also the editor of "A to B" magazine, a place where Brompton can seemingly do no wrong, and it's the same here. At times it veers into [the] sycophantic. Don't get me wrong; we have two Bromptons here and I love them dearly, but they are by no means perfect, and it's a shame some of the weaker aspects of the engineering and construction aren't addressed."

The other reviewers liked it too.

The Brompton in London is achieving the status of the Jesus Bicycle. They are now synonymous with 'folding bike . "Ooooh" said my 76 year old mother last weekend when I told her I had a folding bike, "Is it a Brompton?"

Yes fair point. But I am starting from the position that the Brompton IS a significant folding bike. (And does anyone want to argue that?)

And the book does cover parts that have failed, and have factory fixes, so it's by no means a whitewash of deficiencies.

The author also writes well enough that quite a lot of in-between-the-lines can be surmised without the reader needing to be hit over the head with it.

"Is it a Brompton" Thats funny. Makes a non Brommie person get there back up,but then its your mom so.

I know the feeling. Actually over here it happens with motorcycles. Soon as you tell someone you have one they instantly ask if its a "Harley" like there's no other bike. And some which are probably better bikes yet!

Ok i cant resist anymore,i ordered the Brompton book. We'll see what all the commotion is about. $26.32 Cdn. to my door, if customs doesnt catch it. Most often they dont.
