Is gobike dead?
 

The gobike website is still there, but when I tried to send an e-mail to ask about availability it wouldn't go through. Is the company gone?

I thought the company is long gone years ago, Chop might know more about it cause I heard him mention that it's gone and he has one of the few remaining working go bikes in existence.

The website shows a 2007 bike and the site is 2007. it looks just like a Birdy. http://www.birdybike.com/

As I've said on here many times, The GoBike seemed to me to be one the prettiest looking folders with a very good fold, but, engineering wise, it left something to be desired. I always had problems with the handling, Le Groupe Go, promised the earth, then failed to deliver, time after time, we were promised amazing changes in the website content, it never happened, we were promised accessories, still got none! Grrr! Finally Phillipe Brook, the designer, got in touch with me saying he wanted to sort out my grievances, he was coming to the UK and would, somehow, tweak my GoBike to improve it's handling, he'd be in touch. That was the last I ever heard from him.
If you are in the UK there is an ex showroom 9-speed GoBike for sale at C H White, Malmesbury, Wiltshire.
It is very easy on the eye, and draws a lot of attention everywhere you go, it folds quickly and to the same size as a Birdy, so is a good folder for the commute (if you can do without mudguards , rack etc) and realise that support, after sales & accessories are non-existant.
Some people are very happy with their GoBikes (allegedly!) :p

I'm going to get a new folding bike soon (my Montague can't be repaired). Gobike sounded great. Far less expensive than a Birdy, but, like Dynocoaster pointed out, very similar. The gobike even had disc brakes. With birdy you have to pay more for the models with disc brakes. I guess if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Hopefully, I'll have a chance to test ride a bike friday and a brompton before I make a final descision, but my parents are going to Germany on business and are willing to bring back one of the German models of the Birdy (more selection over there). I'd probably have to pay them back.

The bike shop where i work got his hand onto 5-6 like new Go-Bike. We will check them carefully and expect to sell them. Any idea how much they could be worth now since the company is gone?

Depends. Are you going to offer a frame guarantee? Then you will need to ask more.

I don't know what the new price was, I would guess similar to a Birdy price. 2nd hand, with no frame guarantee, half price.

I would pay 350ish but I am tight and broke......

When you say "like new" does that mean they are used or are they unused but been in storage for some time? Will they be for sale in the UK?

Where are the bikes located?

One Go Bike for sale on Ebay. It was Gbouchar who posted this link on the iBOB list so I don't know if it is the only one, as he mentioned there were others in this thread.

The bike on eBay looks new, never ridden and is located near Quebec City Canada and he is offering free shipping to Canada and the US.

Where is your bike shop located? U.K. or U.S.A.?
 

I rode a GoBike today and I was REALLY impressed! Im probably going to buy it. I have a "P" type Brompton (which I really like) and the GoBike blows the Brompton away ridewise. Of course, they are two different types of folders....cant beat the Brompton for the compact fold.
The GoBike's vespa type front suspension and rear shock and fat tires makes for an ultra plush ride.....plus it is really a good looking bike.
