Need help pricing a Raleigh. Read this if interested in a Raleigh.

I just got my new Tikit and one of my promises is that all of my other folders go. I have a circa1975 Raleigh Stowaway that was purchased in England and brought to the states. It is in excellent condition and has new tires and brake cables. The rims are Rigida 451. The saddle and grips are not original. I will be putting the original white pedals back on. . What should I ask for it? Thank you.

Does $200 sound fair?

I would go with $250-$300 and be willing to negotiate down. That is a very clean example. I have seen plenty of Twenty's going for $250+ on Ebay.

If I wasn't on the opposite coast I would be very interested.

Aaron :)

Thank you, just wanted to make sure someone is getting a good deal.

SunnyFlorida 08-05-10 07:38 PM

Man Dyno. That fender looks so shiny I'm sure I can see my reflection in it. Shame you gotta give up the rest of your folders for the Tikit. But you strike me as a person who keeps his/her word - no matter what.

Sweet looking ride. I hope you get the high end of your asking price.

nice Twenty !

hope you get a good price for it

i have a blue Twenty but its the non folding model

Folder4life 08-06-10 06:10 AM

I think its worth more than $200! Probably upper 200's.....

Dynocoaster 08-06-10 08:25 AM

Thank you, if anyone on the forum here is interested they can have it for $150.

EM42 08-06-10 10:48 AM

I'm trying to convince a friend of mine to give up his Boardwalk 7 for this.

If I only have room this one would be my 8th Child [Twenty !]

SOLD To Wahoonc.

parcoju 08-09-10 04:54 PM

Hey all, I'm glad Dynocoaster was able to sell his Raleigh Twenty and that Wahoonc was able to get it.

I too am looking to sell my Raleigh Twenty(s). Yup, Two Raleigh Twenties.

I've posted them on Craigslist (Orange County), but would love to see them in the hands of another folding bike lover here in the forums.

I, too, like Dynocoaster am planning on getting a Tikit (or a Brompton? Lol, let's not get into that debate here . . . ) and I just have way too many bikes.

I have some other goodies that I would give the buyer (extra stem, 2 brake cables, 2 derailleur cables, 2 brake cable housing, 2 derailleur cable housing, 1 Shimano UN72 Bottom Bracket. The Shimano Nexus 8 Speed Red Band could be an additional sale)

http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/DSC_9828.jpg

The bike with the Brompton M - like bars has been completely disassembled and reput together by me.

(I've always wanted to be able to put a bike together from "scratch" and I had a lot of fun and it was a good learning experience):twitchy:

It has also been coated with J.P. Wiegle's framesaver on the inside so it won't corrode or get rusty. :thumb:

The bike with the longer, more cruiser/comfort bike - like bars is completely original, included with the original pump and front tire dynamo (doesn't work, unfortunately)

I intended these 20's to be project bikes, but now I've come to the decision that I have too many bikes and these have not been loved. :(

I would much rather have someone else ride them instead of them gathering dust in my garage.
I'd also be willing to drive a reasonable distance and to help you get them. Heck, I'll bring my Phil Wood oil and oil the chain and put some in the Sturmey 3-speeds for you.

:thumb:
$200 for each sound good? (including extra cables, housing, stem, oiled chain, oiled hub, drive to meet you)

The Stowaway is in great shape for its age and when I took it apart to ship it, I hadnt folded it yet, the paint was like new under the hinge. It was shipped today and should be in NC on Saturday.

Unfortunately I won't get to see it until next week. I am headed for Boston for a few days, but will definitely be looking forward to getting my hands on it, and getting some good pictures of it.

@ parcoju,
That is a nice looking set there. I haven't seen any white Twenty's in the wild yet. Never managed to get any off of Ebay either. I have had a total of 3 green ones and now the blue Stowaway. I really wish I had more shop space and more bike budget. The Twenty's have to be one of the most underrated bikes out there until you get your hands on one and realize the potential. I have over a dozen bikes to chose from when I want to go riding and 8 times out of 10 the Twenty is what you will find me on.

Aaron :)

Love teh white Twenty's. Especially love the idea of hooking up the Nexus 8 wheels to one. That would be an awesome ride.
I have too many other project bikes right now as well. Someday I will get around to making the Twently Longtail that I have been planning.
I think you have your 20s priced right. How much are you planning on selling the wheels and goodies for?

Hi Kingfish254, sorry I just sold the entire package for to a nice old man a couple minutes ago :(

He already had a Raleigh Twenty, so he drove a hard bargain.

I sold it all for $450, which I'm fine with, since I hadn't touched them for about a year :p

I'm actually moving, so I would have taken anything reasonable.

Sorry Kingfish! >.<

Dynocoaster 08-10-10 11:24 AM

I will be selling my SA three speed hub and 20" rim that I got from Utah Trike. I paid $50 for it. http://www.utahtrikes.com/PRODINFO-S...Wheel_Kit.html

mulleady 08-10-10 11:38 AM

Dynocaster would sell his soul lol!

Dynocoaster 08-10-10 01:34 PM

No, I just dont want to be tempted by anymore projects and spend time riding the Tikit.
