Dahon Eco3 BottomBracket upgrade? Which BB?
 

Hi there!
It's my first post at Folding Bikes section.
Recently, I bought this Dahon Eco3.

The problem is that its bottom bracket and crankset seem too fragile! I want to put a new crank and BB on it. But what kind of BB is this one that comes with Eco3?
Can I replace it by any other BB?
Can I use any BB from this list on my bike?

According to the Dahon website the crank is cold forged and that should be pretty tough.

Yeah, that's true. Actually, the crankset is OK for me. The problem is the BB.
I believe it's a cup-and-cone BB. Can I replace it by a SealedCartridge BB?

I would get hold of Thor at www.thorusa.com and ask him what is available.

you can use any bottom bracket for square axle .... cup and cone is sometimes not so bad though ..:-) ( old school )

Another question, what are the measures of the Eco3/EcoD7 BB?

for that cheap stock crank, same one I removed, 122mm.
If nothing changed, that is.

a different crank will require different length almost every time.

I think I used a 117.5mm BB to set the ultegra/600 cranks out far enough so I could use the clamp on FD thor sells.
normally, you use ultegra/600 cranks with a 110 or 113mm BB.
