My new (used) Dahon

I just bought a folder. Can anyone point me to a site or anything that will help me determine the proper way to fold this? Can anyone give me an idea of how old this might be, and what I should have paid for it?

It's dark out, so I don't have a white garage door picture.

I have two of those and paid $50 for one and the other was free. The free one required a lot of work and I ended up replacing the wheels with a set I had from a Raleigh RSW. Not a bad bike now. There is a Dahon group and if you use Google you will find it. Yours is nicer than mine were. Roger

I found out it the mechanics forum that it is probably a 1988, since it is stamped on the hub. Any idea where to find folding instructions? I've come up dry. I can get all the pivot points to fold, but I can't figure out the best way to arrange all the parts when it's folded.

It's not that hard - seat all the way down, undo brace to steering riser, fold steering riser down, last fold frame such that steering riser ends between wheels. Not sure where that brace goes - figure it out is what I would do. You may need to experiment where to put the handlebar height so that it does not interfere with wheel axles. Right crank arm goes up after unscrewing that thingie. :)

Yea, that's the only part I couldn't figure out. I'll play more tonight.

You can find a great deal of info on these older Dahons on the Dahon forum. I posted a lot of old artifacts there including a how to fold and a couple of manuals. Have fun. These are great little bikes.
I just posted two old Dahon Manuals and a lot other older Dahon artifacts on the Dahon Forum

Yours looks to be in very good shape. 1988 sounds about right. Anything less than $100 is good.

Well.. $100 is what I paid for it. I had a feeling I was overpaying a little bit, but they come up for sale so infrequently in my area (no multi-modal commuters). He had 2 other people interested (or so he said) and he was firm on the price. Looking at new ones with a 3 speed IGH, I was never going to buy a new one.

Thanks everyone about the instructions. I gotta get those next to the bike and see what I can do. I knew there had to be a better way.
