SRAM Launches New Generation Gear Hubs


A new line of mechanical system gear hubs have been recently launched by SRAM. The new 2-speed gear hub from SRAM is the first from the new generation gear hubs. Always good to see another IGH on the market.

Look nice. Its taken me a while to get use to my S/A S2C with its kickback change mechanism. An automatic change does sound interesting.

I also have one of the original duomatics but wasn't there also an automatic version of this original too ?

I assume that worked in the same way ?

I wonder how weights will compare of the SRAM and S/A models.

Where does the line form for the first of these? I want to be in the front!

I can see a Dahon MU Duo or Speed Duo in the future.

I've been riding on a Sachs automatic for over 2 years and have built two bikes around the hubs.. I hope the new SRAM units prove as reliable.. the automatics are a blast to ride :thumb:

Argh! I just presented a Swift folder with the Sturmey S2 to Mrs lexm. She'd probably like the auto-shifting SRAM even better. Let us not speak of this in her company. ;)

I just read elsewhere that you can set the shift point to 12, 14 or 18 kph. Does that make it less adjustable than the old F&S hub?

Duomatic/coaster brake and schlumpf 2 speed crank makes a separable Moulton
cable free, but 4 speeds.

rode two Tern Bikes with the hub....
besides that the bikes rode really nice the hub was exceptional.
As if it was made for the 20 inch and 24 inch folder they were inserted into.

Shifting was very smooth up and down without any drama.
I am thinking that the 20 incher will be Terns best seller and the 24 bike will be the best 24 incher

p.s. I will contact Sram ... but if anybody can find out how the adjustment is done to different speed shifting points please let me know. So far I have heard that only Sram can do that in the factory.

Let me guess, the hubs shifted too early for your liking :) .. I've already contacted SRAM a month or so back about shift point adjustment and delivery dates .. official word, NOT user adjustable.. of course, that didn't stop me with my Sachs automatics.. I made modifications to change shift points many times .. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that i'm probably the only one in the US who bothered changing shift points for my custom installs .. one for my 451 Mu Duo, and one on my 700c Titanium flat bar road bike .. :lol:

are there instructions on how to break it down and change the shift points? or did you guys just wing it and see which screws do what?
