Video: Brompton + Amtrak Bus

Doing a short trip to Corvallis from Portland. Took an Amtrak bus to Albany and rode the rest of the way. Easy and elegant.

Wow, looks way fun! Bromptons seem to be the perfect compliments to a nice bus ride

Good one.

You're forturnate Amtrak didn't force you to box the bike like Grayhound. That's what happened to me when I took Grayhound last summer. It's sad to think Amtrak even has to use buses!!

How much riding did you do in comparison to busing?

don't think it's remarkable since any folder could have done this trip. When I went to Virgina Beach last year, the Amtrak bus put my Brompton underneath the bus storage compartment.

You can no doubt do it with other folding bikes, but we have Bromptons so thats what we used. With a grumpy conductor/driver the smaller your bike looks the better luck you'll have. Laura had problems with the station manager at the Albany station a few months ago, but managed to get on.

It was a short trip so we took the bus from Portland to Albany about 2 hours and rode for about 2 hours. All in all, a good trip that was made considerably easier by the fact no boxing of bikes was necessary.
