How to keep Citizen Bike Gotham 2 closed? Can I add magnets like Dahons?

How to keep Citizen Bike Gotham 2 closed? Can I add magnets like Dahons?
For the life of me, I can't get this stupid thing to not come apart when carrying it!
1. Anyone know the proper way to fold the handles so that they're on the inside between the wheels?
2. Also, any aftermarket piece I can add to keep it closed? Something similar to the magnets Dahon utilizes?

The magnets screw into special receptacles on the Dahons... not easy to fit on different bikes. Your easiest way out is with a Velcro strap. If you are mechanically minded then you could make a magnet solution.

Is that why the citizen has two velcro straps that come with it? I've been reading they're either to hold the bike together when folded, or to put around the bottom of your pant legs to prevent getting caught in the chain?

I use a bungee on my Tokyo through front fork and rear frame leg also around handlebars which properly sit outside the frame when folded - I can also wheel the bike holding the extended seat like luggage - used to use the Velcro straps but ne bungee is quicker and easier

If you're willing, you could do what I did and drill some holes in the existing fender/rack holes to fit.

No, I do not have a Citizen bike, it was just a 20" folding bike I acquired at a police auction. The bike is made of steel and is quite heavy so the magnets can only hold so much. I usually take the handle bar top tube out of the folding part and wedge it between the folded bike. Only like this will the magnets have enough holding power.
First off you should get the Dahon MAGNETIX magnets from (https://www.thorusa.com https://www.thorusa.com/dahon/accessories/special.htm) and see if they fit before any modification to your bike. This assumes that your bike already HAS those fender/rack holes built-in. I simply enlarged them with a drill and a drill bit roughly the diameter of the MAGNETIX magnets.
Before anything, make sure that there are holes already on your bike and if need to enlarge them with a drill. That's all, after that you just need to stick the magnets in there.
