Has someone tried the A-bike?
Hello
If someone's tried the A-bike, I'd like some feedback. The Plus has six-inch wheels while the City has eight-inch wheel. Does it make a difference when riding in flat cities? Thank you. |

the one person I know who actually is trying it, never made it home, he got swallowed by a small pothole ...
dunno if he liked it or not ? thor insert various smileys... I never really caught on that, but there must be a sarcasm smiley somewhere |
I've owned a first-generation 6" wheeled A-bike for almost 5 years. I used it on my daily multi-modal commute in the first year after I had bought it.
http://www.abikecentral.com/forum/vi....php?f=2&t=180 I have to admit that after I've changed my job and needn't combine my commute with the MTR system anymore, I seldom use it. The A-bike is suitalbe for long-distance travels by public transport combining a short distance ride from the last station to your designation. I do not recommend the A-bike to those who want a comfort or a speedy bike. The A-bike is not intended to use for touring or leisure, too. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOadFVB9JVU Do you believe that I weigh 250lbs but my A-bike is still alive after I have used it for 5 years? http://www.abikecentral.com/forum/vi....php?f=2&t=635 http://home.hkstar.com/~amurolee/ima...xtmagazine.jpg |
Thanks much for the pointers. I'll try to find a place that sells it over here so I can give it a try.
|
BTW, I'm also interested in feedback about the 6-inch vs. 8-inch models.

Have you looked at the Pacific Carryme? It rides much better and has a compact vertical fold.

i bought one thinking it would be ideal for my multi-modal commute. tried it so many times around the block and haven't used it since then. it's lying in my garage since then. not the best - single speed, small wheels, twitchy. but the only best thing about it is it's so light.

Thanks much for the comparison between the CarryMe and the A-Bike.
I really have to give the A-Bike a shot before making a decision. The A-Bike is so compact that I could probably take it with me on the plane. |
Has someone tried the six-inch- and eight-inch-models and could provide some feedback?
|
And if someone's tried the Chinese licensed alternatives, I'm interested too, since I know someone in Shenzhen would could order one and ship it to me.
