Raleigh 16s

I posted this a few years back without much luck, so I was hoping that maybe someone might have some new information.

I have these 2 Raleigh 16" folders dated 1980 and 1981. I haven't been able to get much information about them, most seems to be about the Twenty. Seeing that they are 30 years old, they need new tubes and tires and I don't know where to look. I think the tires are marked 16" x 175"

Any Ideas?

Hi, Tires here http://www.thorusa.com/accessories/tires.htm

I had a pair also. I remember reading that they were built in Japan.

You can also buy that size tire at Walmart for about 12 bucks. They're those silly white knobby tires that come on kids bikes. The Big Apples will get you cred that you can't buy at Walmart. The tubes are ok to buy at the W store cause they're hidden.

You can use any tire that says 16 X (whatever) as long as (whatever) is a decimal, such as 1.5, 1.75, 2.0, etc. You cannot use a tire with a fraction (16 x 1 3/8) because that is a different size.

I have had good luck with Maxxis Hookworms (yes, I know, but you have to disregard the name) and Schwalbe Big Apples, pretty good luck with Schwalbe Marathons, very bad luck with Primo Comets.
