Adventures of the Zag 7

Here is my version of a thread that has probably been done here before.

I recently bought a Breezer Zag 7 and brought it with me on an business/holiday trip I am taking. Here is a pic of the bike. Stock except for the seat and some SPD pedals.

Here is the bike in my suitcase. There was actually space leftover for some clothe and stuff. I was quite pleased it fit so well. Disassembling it to this point only took a few minutes.

Here is the obligatory "tourist shot" that I took this morning.

Beautiful!
Green with envy!
I need to get a "tourist shot" with a bicycle next time I'm Stateside!
My next trip to the USA will be as a bikerider!

rex615 12-19-11 01:49 PM

Thanks keke. Make sure and post pics when you do, most of us live vicariously through these pics until the rare chance that we get to actually take the trip. Where are you located?

keke 12-19-11 04:05 PM

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland! :thumb:

For how long, only God knows. Scots might be away in the next 5 years!

Anyhoo, I'll have to rent a bike when I'm in the US.

The secret to their excellent quality, is being located next to the fishemen's warf.

They did have squid, but I only tried the sea bass. The shrimp looked good too...

The Beezer folder is made by Oyama isn't it ?

Whay price do they go for, and is there an equivalent Oyama model at a better price.

I was led to believe (by my LBS and friendly Dahon dealer) that it is basically a rebadged Dahon Vitesse. The rear del looks exactly like a Neos and even has a Dahon symbol on it.

As to price, I am not sure because I got it for "free" using credit card points, but based on the number of points it took I would place the price somewhere between $500 and $575 USD.

This is one of only two cycle path in the whole country.

These rigs are used to sell drinks and food around the city. The vendor took my picture on it while I enjoyed some of his "chicha".

I am quite pleased by well this little bike climbs, both in the seat and up on the pedals. The altitude of nearly 2000 meters (6,500 ft) had me suffering. The bike also handles quite well on the twisty descents with good brake performance.

rex615 12-25-11 08:57 PM

This little hill was really steep but mercifully short. The little Breezer almost became the aptly named "push bike" but I was able to ride all the way up. For this kind of work I would want to change the front ring to a 48T.

High up in the mountains. You can just make out the town down in the valley at the center of the photo.

Thanks to all who stopped by for a look or better yet leave a few words.

Can you provide enough info to conduct a search for the same suitcase on the internet?

Thanks

rex615 01-30-12 10:49 PM

I will look tomorrow for more detail, but it is basically just a standard Samsonite suitcase with the roller wheels on the bottom.
