Driveline chain guard for my Dahon Mu P24: question and tips

Hi!..
I want to buy a Driveline chain guard:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/300654781353...84.m1436.l2648

I have the model / spec of the crankset that ships with the Dahon Mu P24 (for my 2009 model):
Sugino XD, cold-forged crank arms, 2014 alloy 46T chainring

I'm looking to know the size that I should be buying...

Should I look for a 46T? Is that the measure that I should be looking for? Or is there any other parameter or any other way that I could fit some "not 46t" chainguard into my bike?

Any tip regarding some other chainguard apart from the driveline chain guard?... (looks like it is not easy to find)…

Thanks!..

From the picture off of the Dahon Site, if yours looks like the one pictured, then the Driveline chainguard will not work.. the original composite guard screws onto the chain ring and does not bolt to the crank spider..

OOopps that's really bad!... Do you know any other chain guard similar to the Driveline that I could use? (I just want to change the one that comes with the bike, as it is kinda old and worn out)...
Thanks!

I am pretty sure the bolt circle is 110 mm on that crank ... if they make one for that boltcircle in the correct chainring size ( 53 ?) than you are golden, just unscrew the original Dahon thing and add the new alloy one... You might need longer chainring bolts also ...

Did you look at the Biologic Freedrive? I want to try it on a bike or two this summer. http://www.thorusa.com/accessories/biologic.htm Scroll down.

With a rear derailleur?

pnp, did you try your local Dahon dealer?

The rule is 4T more than the largest chainring, i.e. 50T for you. I started with a Driveline on a NWT and it worked there so well that I promoted it to my standard chain guard solution. What worries me, though, is that without the FD but RD there, the original guard acts likely also as a chain guide that you cannot afford to give up.

Well... I heard different (positive and negative) reviews of the biologic freedrive.
I dont want that for now!... I think that I have to, at least, see it on a bike and check if it is all about dust inside...

Thanks anyway!..

i have changed the chainguards on my speed tr and curve sl with drivelines. if you can get the exact size these chainguards are great. here's how to check bcd (bolt circle diameter) of your p24. http://www.hostelshoppe.com/tech_bol...e_diameter.php

Reading through this it looks to me that you need to talk to a bike dealer .... This is all pretty easy if you do know the terminology and the different measuremnts and all.... only takes about 10 years working in the bike industry ...

Why I am saying this ? Its pretty simple to understand that a freedrive ONLY works with a non derrailleur equipped bike. A one speed or a bike with an internal hub.... no chaintensioner no nothing .....

and we are discussing ii that thing is worthwhile ?
As I said there are 3 or more issues here, which are all very different nature ...
-------------

1. you need to find out the bolt circle ..I think its 110 but not sure ....
2. your teeth ....
3. you will need the correct chainring bolt length to add the protector to the crankarms... most likely the provided bolts are too long, as they are meant to be put on a double, versus the single. And the existing bolts might or might not be long enough as they are designed for a single.
4. you will need to unsrew the plastic original ring

again ... I think that we are over our heads here, as we throw in several different things into one pot... best if a pro gets involved with your bike at hand
