Tyrell FX

Hi All
After going through so many choices and budget to meet, landed myself with a Tyrell FX from my LBS here in Singapore
Have been riding it for the last 2 weeks almost daily for about 20 to 30km each time
Bike is a Tyrell FX from Japan. It folds but not as compact as a Brompton, Bike Friday or Dahon but it fits perfectly in my car booth
The love for this is the frame with the carbon fork and made in Japan
Comes with 10speed standard and Tyrell AM-3 high rolling wheels with Durano tires
Have changed the seat to a Specalized Phenon and also the handlebar was changed to a Easton EC70 carbon
The rest are stock and the bike is specs at 8.9kg so i believe i shaved off some weight
The ride is awesome and this bike is fast
Brought it on the straight at almost 40km/h for a short sprint
For those looking for a fold, you can consider this bike

Very nice

Need more pics. Particularly of the bike folded, and the folding mechanisms. The folding fork is very interesting.

Lucky you! Such a sweet ride - congratulations!

I took this FX out for a test ride a couple years ago and have been suffering severe bike lust ever since.

Beautiful bike!! I'd love to have one at some point...

Meanwhile...

I'm pulling for SesameCrunch to have one delivered to his home so that I might ride it on occasion .. :thumb:

^^^^

WARNING - DO NOT LOOK AT THIS BICYCLE!

"Beautiful bike!! I'd love to have one at some point... "

I knew this would happen. We could all send Sesame Crunch ten bucks to buy one, then turn up at his house un-announced to ride it.

The red pedals and seatpost really add to the overall look of the bike. Again, congrats on a sweet looking ride.

Bought and modified at MBS? What kickstand are you using? May want to "poison" a FX rider in my regular cycling group...

Nope bought everything and modified myself except the bike from MBS and the stand is standard Tyrell original

lovely bike! I'm in Japan and I'm planning to drop by to the nearest Tyrell dealer in my place.

I'm eyeing this one as my next ride (actually still undecided which way to go bet. Brompton S6L, BD-1, Tern X10 or Tyrell).

got quick questions though: how's the ride so far? that small detachable clip on the fork, does it hold significant value with regard to the fold? if you lose it could you still use the bike safely? The folded size is acceptable to me but I'm a bit skeptical with regard to its ride. thanks in advance.

The ride is good. Stiff and reactive. The clip holds the bike well. I don't think you will lose the clip. if so u can still get it
I ride a Alex Moulton TSR but that is for comfort. The FX sprint fast

@cableguy - you're one lucky guy!

I have a Flamingo London and i only use it on weekends at an average of just 30kms. ( pls don't laugh). I don't commute. I just visit parks.

I fell in love with biking again because of the Flamingo. This early, im convincing my wife ( my manager :-) ) that my next bike this Christmas :-) will either be a Tyrell FX or the Pashley TSR 9 or 27.

Since you have both, which among the 2 will you advice me to choose? Would you be kind enough to enumerate each bike's strong points as per your experience? Also, since im from Manila where there is no dealer, which among the two will be easier to maintain as I'll be left with just the local bike shops.

Sorry for the many questions. I'm excited that i found the guy who has both the bikes I'm eyeing next.

Thanks a lot!

Awesome looking bike!

Hi all,
I have been riding my Tyrell FX for about 18 months and felt that the stem is a little too long for my short stature. My question is, has anyone replaced their "turn stem" with a normal one? If so, what are the dimensions I need to look out for. In the spec, its stated as 25.4 x 90mm but I think this doesn't include the locking collar on the threadless steerer tube. Would welcome some feedback. Thanks to all.
