I recently finished a 640 mile tour using the Tern Link P24h. I had no mechanical issues plus no flats! I loved being able to fold it and carry it on the trains with me. The stem has a really great mechanism for changing positions. It's called the andros stem. The only small negative for me is the bike is unforgiving when not on a road surface. I guess that's to be expected with Aluminum. I'm going to look for a better seat for the extended rides I'm planning. I would recommend this bike for the wider gear ratio of 21" - 107".

@Dynocoaster The Thudbuster and suspension seat post are possibilities when I have more funds. The biologic airflow saddle on the same page looks inviting and affordable now.

Looks like a great trip. What kind of rear rack and panniers did you use?

The rear panniers are Ortlieb Front Roller Classic Bags. They hook perfectly to a Dahon Rear Traveller Rack.

I have the 2007 Dahon Mu SL which was the last model to come with a Pantour suspension front hub and a fat Schwalbe front tire. That and a Schwalbe Big Apple with a lower tire pressure on the rear make it a very forgiving ride for this all out aluminum bike. I find that steel and aluminum (Speed Uno vs Mu SL) make no difference in ride comfort; rather tire pressure will and using a lower tire pressure and a fatter tire will help smooth out the ride. In fact, my aluminum Mu SL is more comfortable riding on pothole infested roads compared to the Speed Uno with Dahon Rotolo tires pumped up at a much higher pressure. When the Rotolo had lower pressure, the ride is more comfortable but still slightly less than my Mu SL. Not sure why?

Also, I do not carry a set of rear panniers when I tour anymore cause I usually end up pumping more air to compensate for more heavier load thus loosing the pneumatic balloon cushy ride of the Big Apple on the rear, plus the Kinetix Pro wheel wasn't meant to withstand camping loads anyhow. Rather, I have my trailer does all the hauling and all the shakes is on the trailer. Since I'm not on it, I don't feel it and makes the bike nimble and comfortable. I do train travel as well, but found my current setup to be the most compact efficient and easy to portage.

I settled on a Thudbuster ST for my Dahon having ridden the LT version for several months. I figured that the arc of travel for the ST is more efficient for road use than the LT so long as a softer-than-recommended elastomer is used. The LT has too much fore-aft travel. Plus the ST keeps the folded package quite tidy.

So what kind of trailer do you use?

Thanks for all posts re Tern Link p24. My wife and I bought our Terns based on your comments. Our other folding bike is a Bike Friday Tandem. In the short time we've had our bikes I can endorse the comments re stability, folding. However, my hub gear cable detached during a fast outing. Our dealer replaced the bike. I've found the thread for the bottle cage to be delicate (I hope I don't have to replace my bottle cage too often). The front fender on all three bikes was off center (tightening pulls the fender - reverse thrust required). The rubber grommets covering the anchor point for the optional trolley look as if they may not stay in place. Our Carradice Carradura Rack Bag attaches neatly to the rack. We do not have instructions for detaching the rear wheel (hub gear in place). The rear light / reflector is a big unit for what it does; only the front light is driven by the dynamo. No blinking by either light unit. Overall we're delighted with our bikes.

those rubber grommets are for shipping protection .... right ? when the rack is mounted you need to get to the holes and discard the rubber thinghies ... :-) just sayin ..
