Melon Slice Review
 

I thought I would post a link to the review of my Melon Slice. I have it posted over on my website. Overall I really like the bike. Its a really solid feeling bike. Kinda feels more like a full size bike. Its surprising there is not much information about it on the web or these forums. They have not really been mentioned in this forum except for a passing reference AFAIK. They are popular in the Far East, and purportedly ride very well. Hasa offers a titanium version and a carbon version as well. That titanium one is drool-worthy. The leaning forward stempost is to me an indicator of the quality of the bike - the majority of bikes for the Asian market have sloping-back handleposts, severely limiting the options for a fast posture.

I have only had one Dahon and this Melon doesn't remind me of it. They both have their advantages. To me the Melon feels more solid than the Dahon Eco I had. But I do miss the Dahon magnets!

The "minimax" model looks interesting - looks a bit stretched out and perhaps more comfortable for most riders.

Yeah its odd, it does kinda look like the slice. But I like the hinge much better on the Slice. Also the rear of both bikes look different. So its one of those deals where its kinda the same and kinda different.

And yeah that minimax looks like a really nice little bike. 22 pounds is pretty dang light. I like how the cables go into the frame too. That's something i like about the slice , on the rear the cable runs through the frame.

It looks pretty nice.

I love mine, but the forward handlebars are slightly annoying. The build quality and the quickness & maneuverability of the Red Slice is excellent though. Still, it's a sweet little Red Melon Slice!!!

I cracked the right side pedal tonlght, so I swapped the stock ones with the larger composite pedals from my schwinn. Much better, especially since the stock pedals (plastic folders) were a bit small anyways. Now the pedaling action is better,...no more foot slippage.

Even though the LBS told me I would need to change my cables, I decided to put a new handlebar on the bike. I went with a 50 mm rise, and it fits perfectly. The cables are just great, and I still have slack when turning left or right. Folding is still just fine as well.

The best thing is I installed a nice aluminum bar, and it actually looks fantastic. It's also lighter than the bar that came on the bike,...go figure.
