Need a 451 front wheel

Hi, I need a 451 front wheel for a little road bike for my four-yr-old. It doesn't have to be perfect, just reasonably good, and inexpensive. If you have one, please PM me.

Hub size and where are you located?

Standard 100mm width, though I'm capable of re-spacing it if needed. I'm in Maryland. It's for a little Piedrahita road frame.

Retail , Bike Friday in Eugene Oregon,
builds 451 wheels for their production of Pocket sport bikes ..
will sell them, separately, too. Shipped Fed Ex.

need a 100 or a 74mm wide Hub? have that in mind with your Order.

Um, yeah, not sure I want to spend $700 on this project. That's pretty much more than TEN TIMES what it's worth to me; did you read the original post?

Unless they have something on their site that I'm not seeing; perhaps I'm missing it.

Best bet is probably going to be buying the parts and building up your own wheel. If you don't go crazy, should be able to get it done for under $200 for a reasonable quality wheel.

you did, you missed the phone number.. call them and ask..

perhaps they will ship you a kit,
a bundle of parts, spokes, rim, and hub tire tube and rim-strip,
for the DIY experience.. and labor savings

If you want to build your own, Sun Ringle has 451 rims which it designates as 1-1/8 and 1-3/8. See this PDF. This seller has those two sizes shown here. The leftmost two categories. (The other categories are 406 rims.). You can get a CR-18 rim for about $25. Then get a Tiagara hub for $23. (I assume that's 100mm.).

Use the spocalc.xls spreadsheet to calculate your spokes. (Scroll all the way down that page to read how to measure the things it needs as input. The Sun PDF linked above has the ERD. For the 406 rim I recently bought, it was within a MM. I measured mine using two spokes pulled together, like the page describes.).

If your LBS doesn't have the spokes you need, you can order them custom cut here for .72 + .15 for the nipple.

I used this site's instructions to lace my spokes. It has a couple errors. I informed the owner today of the errors. There's also this site.

That puts you around $80. Call it $100 with shipping. You might find lower prices elsewhere.

I'm finishing my first wheel. It's not hard.

Niagara also has these pre-built 451 wheels.
