What's the bike on the far right of the group shot, front?
Appears to be the same bike as the former Origami Fox. |
Why are these in the Swift thread?

Question for those with the xootrs, I see some have fitted kinetix rims as fitted to the Dahon folders high end models, I have found a place in the Uk that do Dahon spares and sell the kinetix rims in silver or red as on the x20 model, will these be a straight forward fit on the xootr? there specifically for 8/9 speed cassettes and there obviously 20 inch rims, will I need anything else to make them fit? or will they be a straight swap? Yup I just read about the front being smaller than standard, that's a bit of a hassle as I just want some nice bling 20 inch wheels for my new xootr but don't want to pay silly money for carbon clincher wheels etc, we cant get any decent affordable rims in the UK at all apart from the kinetix I found!
|
Maybe you can get a set of Velocity Spartacus paired spoke wheels .. I have them on my Moulton .. not as light as Rolfs, or the Kinetix Pro, but way lighter than stock ..
|
Its just finding them in the UK, it would cost me a fortune to get anything from another country!

We don't make the Spartacus any longer, but you might try our A23 wheelset. In the UK, Brick Lane Bikes handles is our main distributor. The A23 is a lighter rim than the Spartacus, with a more conventional lacing pattern, available in 20H+. The rim is also wider which makes a laterally stiffer rim as well as improves ride quality as it spreads out the tire's contact patch a bit more.

Well took the bike on a skyride event yesterday, was a bit damp out so fitted some quick release mudguards and off I went, first real chance I have had to open her up, damn its pretty fast, took over a few lycra clad tour de france wannabes wonderin who the fat kid on a folder was blitzing by, at various points around the course there was activities and displays, music playing even a hot blond in a bodystocking and a giant bubble machine you had to ride through and one point they had a 100yard sprint with another fit lady with a radar *** poised to take speed readings, had a slight incline but I managed 19.5 mph which was ok since I have arthritic knees, 220 lbs and a bad back the last few days, overall I like the bike, ordered a LT thudbuster seatpost from the U.S for comfort and deciding on what size and type bars I need to give me a more upright comfortable position next, oh and of course the wheels, found some nice litepro ones on ebay that look great, but more research needed before I spend as I don't know the quality just yet, anyhoo here is another pic of the bike when I got back from my ride, oh I must say that RiDo saddle is really comfy, no crotch or coccyx pain at all when I got home!

I think these look the business but further investigating needed - Tailor-Made 20" 406 451 Front & Rear Wheelset LitePro Aero Hubs 20/24 Spokes

dezzie - sounds like you had a great day. I do have a question for you though,...what brand are the mudguards? I really need a set like that for me MiniVelo. I love how they look.

Anyone know the diameter of the standard xootr handlebars? is it 25.4 or the larger 31mm, I feel like its the first option, I want new bars that have a rise and sweep back and fit ergo grips to that can also be comfortable for using the standard gripshift.
|
I also need the length of the standard bars so I can gauge how much longer I need to add on for comfort as I find them to narrow for my wide frame but don't at the same time, want cowhorns, looking at these bars which I think would be ideal - ergotec Rizer Ergo Bar offers at the cycling shop Rose Bikes UK

New thudbuster came from the states today, bloody expensive to ship but my bum forgives it, its lovely!
|
there is a Neoprene boot to cover it, and keep stuff out of the bushings..
I got one for mine (wish everything was not Brand name emblazoned.. ) the extension oversize bit may have boosted the cost (mine just 27.2mm) |
Found these on ebay, look like a good deal, 20x 1.75 FOLDING BIKE MTB WHEELS,BLACK DUAL WALL SUIT DAHON 8/9SPD CASSETTE | eBay should fit ok or should they? I know the back will need spacing out as they are 130mm, but what does the spacers look like, where can I get some, or are they just like penny washers?

All I know is I'm not a fan of the NuVinci N360 hub. I'd have been much happier if I'd gone shimano nexus 3 or 8 speed. Even keeping it SS. I like my Xootr Swift on the whole, but this hub isn't all its cracked up to be. The weight, too much of a brick for me. It works as advertised, but,...MEH!
|
oh I want an alfine 11 speed built up into some nice rims but no hurry, just bought a mini moulton to bling up, no rush!

Didn't think that marriage would last long.. very heavy hub and draggy in addition.. I had the 8spd Nexus Redband on mine .. really nice hub, but if I were going to do it all again in IGH, I'd want something a little lighter keeping it in line with the lightweight feel of the bike ... most likely a 2 speed auto, 3 speed or hunt up a SRAM P5 ..
the nuvinci would be good on something like a big dutch townie or a mamichari type commuter.. http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/4.../mamachari.jpg |

PS: I'm killing my classifieds ad. The hub isn't ready for prime time! |
