bailing out of Airnimal on Ebay
there's someone selling a cracked airnimal frame on ebay
Same seller seems to be selling a few other airnimal related things - case, wheels, fork etc. May be of interest to people here. But also, as someone aspiring to own an Airnimal it is a bit worrying - this looks like someone commited to the brand and now walking away. Any thoughts ? |
Guess it was out of warranty? What is their warranty anyway? Their website offers no clue.
The rear triangle and fork might interest another Chameleon owner or a framebuilder, but imo from the location and nature of the cracks the main frame is scrap. So what use is selling it as a complete frame? |
I'm wondering if the owner was a true masher and very hard on bikes. I'm a lightweight (5'4 120lb) spinner, but I know mashers that constantly break their frames through repeated hard use. Granted, you never want to see this type of thing happening, but it's not as rare as one might think.

The frames on the early Chameleons were apt to crack but that problem has been solved by now. Airnimal has a good reputation and would seem to operate a lifetime warranty and I've never heard of anyone being refused as a new frame is usually offered.
Can't see the point in offering a cracked frame for sale though. |
well the new owner will blast an email over and demand a new frame .... ooops

well notwithstanding I started this thread, for reasons of fairness to Airnimal, I think I should add that this hasn't put me off and in the end I have just commited >thousand quid stlg on buying one for myself....
