Now that its in mode to bring ones own shopping bags, lots of people just fill up their own bags instead of grabbing carts. As long as your being consistent about it (e.g., only putting things in your cart and not in the pockets of your coat), I don't think you'll have a problem at most stores (at least not most stores I tend to frequent).

I envy those who can get the Brompton to balance on the EZ wheels -- I can't figure out how to do it without chewing up the suspension block and having it almost tip over every twenty yards or so, and that's unloaded.

I know this post is old, but I can't seem to find a place that sells these baskets. Does anyone know the proper name for them?

What basket? Older brompton basket works well or improved one as in the photo. 2 X-roller extenders mod on rear rack with Klickfix QR system Basket can get me 20Kg load front and rear. Quite well balanced too.
