Has anyone ever try to anodize their folding bike parts? I'm thinking to anodize the silver seat post and handle bar to matt black.
Would be helpful if someone can recommend a place in Chicago that i can do it. Thanks ahead.

Try the Yellow Pages.. Anodizing is electroplating an aluminum Oxide on Aluminum base.
the color is a dye added to that new surface.

I tried to look for one in Chicago, but the one I found require a minimum lot of $250. I don't know if there are any company that will take small order from a hobbyist instead of manufacturer order.

Hey there hamh...
I'm a local guy... I live in the far north 'burbs, but work downtown in Chicago near the Theater District.
I too have been considering applying different finishes (including colored anodizing) to my Birdy frame if I decide to strip all the paint off it this winter. I haven't found local places that do color anodizing in my searches at this point, however, I have really been focusing on finding a good, affordable place for powder coating.
In my searches, I'll post back to this thread if I come across a place that does colored anodizing.

the first few steps are relatively doable, but when it comes to the dye in certain temperature, it's difficult if you don't have the heating device...

I remember somebody selling "do it yourself" kits for home anodizing. Several colours in the kit I think.
