Replacing a broken Brompton spoke
 

I figure this is within my skill set. One question:

The sprockets are held on with a circlip. If I remove that and take the sprockets off, will that black plastic disk come off as well to afford access to the hub?

After that, it looks like cake.

Yes, but some times you do not need to remowe the sprocket.

If a spoke has broken chances are that the other spokes around it have loosened/out of balance and added to cause it. If you replace a spoke make sure you go round all the other spokes to check their tightness and balance and obviously make sure the wheel is true.

Yes, op needs to make sure he gets the correct gauge from a Brompton dealer.

Thanks for the help. Picked up the spoke at NYCE Wheels today and persuaded it into place with a little bending action. Replaced the circlip using the thumbs-and-intense-pain method and I'm back on the road.
