15mm wrench fits most pedals, but it has to be narrow;many 'regular' wrenches are too wide to fit between the pedal and the crank arm(pedal wrenches are flat). Many pedals also have an Allen head/hex fitting on the inside, behind the crank arm.

Hi,
Its a good question because the answer is the opposite of what you might think. The right pedal comes out counterclockwise, the left pedal out clockwise. This is the same spin as the spindle movement and pedal for normal pedalling and you may be thinking surely that is wrong, a stiff pedal will unscrew itself. However the sideways torque on the thread rotates in the opposite direction, and it is this that needs to rotate in the same direction as tightening the pedal. The latter effect will unscrew a pedal (wrong threaded) even if its frictionless. rgds, sreten. |
thanks for all the tips!!
im glad i asked first :) |
