love the little dahon but i gotta admit, i've been looking at some pretty sexy bromptons lately...tempted by the smaller folded size but not sure how i'd like the 16-in wheels after finally getting used to 20s. that, and saving up a month's rent...

You can take the tour as a test drive for Bromptons to see if you like them.
I have a 20in. wheeled folder as well as a B'ton. The ride is not very different.
They are kinda pricey. Last time I was at NYCE about a month ago, they had
a used titanium model 3 speed for sale. The sales guy said it was $1,500, but
I think I saw a tag on the seat saying $1,000. By the way I don't have any
connection with this shop, as a matter of fact I didn't like the way I was treated
the first time I was there; how dare them not offer me any discount!

I'm always struck by the lack of Airnimals in threads like these. Why is this? Is it because of their cost or is it unavailability?

At 65 , I need to add a small inner chainring to the Bike Friday to have the gearing required for climbing here
in the Rocky Mountains.
Due to it's low gearing, my Specialized XC Comp with slicks is my favorite climbing bike. Once properly
set up, the Bike Friday should be a good climber also.
Multi - Tasking...

LOL ! I originally built a bike rack for the Porsche, but didn't like having a bike hanging out the back. That's why I converted two old bikes to take-apart's to fit in the trunk. They too were a bit of a pain due to slow assembly times.
The Bike Friday's seem the best alternative. Tom

Maximum possible speed on any of these bikes can only lead to trouble !
Traveling with a folding bike or in this case a homebuilt folding kayak only adds to the fun ...
