About getting my first folder, cyclescheme, etc.

I am quite new to this biking world. The reason why I said "new", because I used to do BMX biking 13 years ago.

I am planning to go back to biking and I would like to get a folder as I am now working in London.

After researching, asking around, and trying out a few bikes, I finally decided to get a BIRDY.

As we all know, Birdy is a quite pricey folder. Can anyone suggest a good store here in UK that sells at least a used Birdy? Most stores sells Brompton and Dahon.

I've already checked goingoingbike.com, but it looks inactive at the moment. eBay and Gumtree seems to be quiet as well.

Anywhere else I can get a cheaper ones? Asia perhaps?

As for the Cyclescheme option, it's a bit shady... I am not really sure how it works.

I my understanding... I will just tell my employer to signup in Cyclescheme, then they will purchase the bike for me... then what whould happen next? Will my employer deduct the price from my salary in 12 or 18 months with 0% interest, until the bike is fully paid and will be mine?

Of course a 0% interest financing is another option...

I am just looking for a cheaper way to get a Birdy.

Anyone?

TIA! :)

CTC is probably your best source of info on the cyce to work scheme. Here is a link:

There is also a forum on the CTC web site with many posts on this subject.

Used Birdy bikes don't come up very often, there is clone made in the far east, have a read of this:

Lots of chains sell birdies afaik. Cycle heaven mailorder, st james cycles. London. What about an ori, better value and available in london stores?

Ps I own a birdie. But unless getting the non monocoque version they are expensive imo. The city older sytle version is cheaper than a brompton which seems a good deal.
