My Tern Link C7 folding bike
today i just joined the fold with my Tern link c7 folding bike, i have researched all different kinds and this had was reasonably priced and good looking etc. I took it on a 27.3 miles ride and it handled quite well going through new roads, gravel, sand, grass, broken roads, off curbs. the shifting isn't to bad either but the brakes need a little more of a break in plus the seat is ok. check it out.

This folding bike is quite fun on road and off-road, and i am getting better at folding it. i thought up some pun phases like: its my "tern" to use it, it just tern-ed up at the bike shop so i had to get it.

Nice bike, I recently got a D8, I rode a couple of 5hour days last week. The saddle wasn't a problem except it felt a bit warm sometimes.

The stock saddle was a bit too gushy for me and needed something a tad bit stiffer. Also i like the adjust stem that the c7 has. On one of my rides the bottom bracket lock ring came loose to the point of falling off, but i stopped lucky and retightened it.

Im interested in how people are liking the Terns. I have aDahon Mu but Ill no doubt want to replace or upgrade sometime. Here in the UK Tern seems to be on the rise as Dahons are harder to source. Nice ride!

Thanks, the tern link c7 is getting much funnier with every ride plus i use spd pedals and shoes. So far no problems or flats. The aceleration is awesome on these small 20 inch wheels. One thing i did notice between the dahon d7, and p8 verses the c7 is that the stem on the Tern link c7 is stiffer by a alot and doesnt flex as much.

Congratulations alexaschwanden. I also have a Link C7.
I agree, the stock saddle was just a killer on me. I could never seem to sit on it right; The saddle has been keeping me from riding. Today I upgraded my Saddle to a 2012 Non-Cushion MoonSaddle. It's not fully adjusted yet but in the next few hours once the sun stops trying to kill me, i'm gonna toy with adjustments.
So far though, there's a world of difference and cant even put into words how the industry needs to change over to something like this now. later on maybe tonight or the next few days I will be doing a review on this saddle.

Update: Today I rode 61.5 miles from Palo alto to redwood city marina then down to Los altos for lunch at subway and came back. The weather was really warm 84F with sunny skies and lite wind. I have a new record of over 61 miles long distance for this type of bike, and a new max speed of 29.9 mph at full bore!!!.it rides and accelerates really quickly but it also slow down pretty fast so keep pedaling, my average speed was about 15 mph on this bike! Oh and the jersey i got from my friend fits greats and looks interesting.

Wow, were you hitting this speed going down hill? My average pedaling speed without trying is between 8 - 11 MPH. When I start to pedal a little furiously, I could hit 15. Not too sure if I ever went faster than that though. Lately i've groping 2nd Gear for flat roads, easy on the legs. Seems to require the least amount of pedaling.

The 29.9 mph was on a flat road heading back, i had a light wind hit me towards the top end of the last gear. This bike is so zippy and nimble plus the power to weight ratio is improving, i also do weight training with my other bikes i had to increase my strength, torque, and RPM's. I bought a rack and put my panniers with my stuff back on for commuting to Performance bike shop (my work). stay tuned.

I am using mine for trips to visit my kid when she is at college. Now that I am back home I am using my heavy touring bike to get fit for my tour next month. I really did like it for traveling, sturdy and rode well. I just don't care for straight bars. Maybe I need to see about some bar ends for more had positions, and I can remove them for travel.

Update: 250+ miles everything is still stock and works great. The tires,handle-grips are starting to wear in, drivetrain is nicely getting broken in as well, no flats yet but changing one does take some work.

Update: 500+ miles and everything is still going great, riding with a load is interesting on a folding bike. Also i am commuting to work with it as well and my co-workers enjoy seeing my unique bike. The shifting is still working good, the brakes are still strong, and the tires are having more wear. The bike is still stock beside the saddle, peddles.

Today I rode 71.9 miles from Palo alto to San Francisco and over the Golden Gate Bridge then back with Caltrain to my home. It was very windy and about 60F. The Embarcadero near the wharfs were still busy with tourists and construction because of the America's cup boat Race. I also got a nasty flat and my pump failed to work so i asked a fellow biker and he helped me out. enjoy!

Update: 1 month and 648.9 miles, that is recreational and commuting combined. I have had 3 flats and a little rear derailuer adjustment, spoke adjustment so far. the bike is holding up quite well with so much use in a small amount of time, this is a entry level folder with speed not in mind but i like it.

Update: 750+ miles on my Tern Link folder and everything is still going good. I have a slow leak in the front tire that i will fix later on. also i pumped the 20x1.75 inner-tubes up to 70psi and it was a bit faster with less energy. the current weight varies between 40-45lbs depending on what i have with me. this little bike was called "cool" by a female customer that had some questions about. this is my main personal transporter and i like it.

You might want to be weary about using gel seat covers, they aren't good for long ride and tends to just push the gel to some more sensitive areas. I found it best to use a harder seat for long rides and not as much cushioning.

Update: Today at 5am I rode 39.6 miles from palo alto to Sunnyvale and back, going through the baylands, shoreline park, stevens creek trail and over Hwy 85 and near de anza college. also my chain got derailed and jumped in between the 1st gear and the spoke protector and was jammed!!! it took a while to unstuck it using different tools i had, but the ride was still pretty fun.

Update: this is a facebook update from yesterday, sorry its late:
I did 100.1 miles (NEW RECORD!) from palo alto to San Mateo coyote point Marina then down to Sunnyvale and back. I did it in about 7.5 hrs with 6 powerbars and 4 bottle refills of water. I started at 4am in the morning when there was less traffic and I had to get back before my 2-9pm shift starts at performance bicycles, it going to be a long day.

Another interesting route in your area is the Dumberton bridge loop. About 40miles, going through the bridge, east palo alto, golf course, shoreline, Alviso, mcarthy ranch and back to the bridge. About 75% of it are on bike trails.
