How to distinguish a Dahon Speed D7's model year by sight?
 

I am relatively new to folding bikes and would like to know if there is a way to distinguish whether a Dahon Speed D7 was made in 2008, 2009, 2010, or 2011 by sight?

Depends on where you are located. For US models, 2008 and 2009 are denim blue. I believe 2010 and 2011 are cobalt blue. Other distinguishing features are the handlepost (Radius on 2008, Radius V on 2009-2011) and the frame-integrated luggage socket (2010 and 2011, I think). Hope this helps.

Thanks, it definitely does! I am asking in regard to US models. Is the difference between the handleposts significant and/or recognizably distinct? Is any one of those particular model years preferable when compared? How important is the frame-integrated luggage socket? Thanks again for all the help and advice.

For information on how to distinguish the handleposts see http://www.thorusa.com/dahon/technical/recall.pdf. IMHO, for most small-wheel folders, putting luggage on the front first is preferable.
