Moulton TSR
 

not that I can afford one but I was curious if anyone has any experience with Moulton TSR bikes? Are the delicate, can they handle a heavy rider? They look great and I like the idea of stuffing one in a suitcase when I travel for work, not having my bike when I'm away is killing me :cry:

I have quite a bit of experience.. they are not delicate .. the listed weight limit with cargo is 265lbs .. if you want to run fat tires like your Bully, you'll want a V-brake version .. there is no disk brake option ... the wheelbase is long at roughly 42 inches, so handling is very stable, and of course comfortable because of the full suspension .. it will fit in an airline legal suitcase with minimal disassembly... I have a few models in the shop available .. the one I built up and ride a lot on weekly 20 mile group rides is my more or less custom TSR-20..

On a bike like this I would probably go with a slick tire, the bully is a different animal.

Thanks for the information, I am sure I would want to do a fair amount of customizing I would prefer to just get a frameset if I could.

I've done 2 x Paris-Brest-Paris 1200km rides on almost stock TSR30s, plus quite a few other long brevets. This year, my TSR has been ridden in Israeli (1000km), French (300km) and British (600km) brevets on successive weekends.

Moulton does sell framesets and in many colors if it is not a TSR2, just ask a dealer to order you one.

So sweet. Can they run 451 wheels? ( post hi-jack..)

cool do you have any idea what a frameset goes for? I will have to ask about that.

When you could get them, they ran around $1400 US ... framesets haven't been available through the US distributor for a few years... and there are agreements between the UK and the US around distribution.. if you go to a UK site (like Fudges) .. you will see they list many colors of framesets but all are 'out of stock' .. also they don't ship to the US.. so, you would have to go the really round about way of getting one to the US, + shipping and customs..

They still use unique to Moulton wheels and tires? 17"?

Not the TSR series ... 20" 406 .. the AM models still use 17" 369 .. one tire choice readily available .. Schwalbe Kojak .. at least it's a nice tire ..

Agree Kojaks are nice/very quick on the 20" wheeled TSRs. The beauty of the TSR at this wheel size of course is its sprung back and front :)

I owned a TSR2 for about 2 years and loved it. Have sold it though as I could not leave it anywhere in Cambridge locked up :(

Its too different looking and attracts attention quickly so very nickable.

If you are just using it for round trip rides or have secure places to keep it at either end of a journey then its fine. They are certainly very unique, unusual and comfy bikes to ride.

Ps I still own a 70s Moulton MK3. Its sprung back and front as well but with smaller 16" rims :)
