Thoughts on the Dahon Shoulder Carrying Strap?
I was thinking about purchasing a Dahon shoulder carrying strap. Has anyone used one? How do you like it? Does it make carrying your foldable easier or is it better to just get a carrying bag? Thanks.

Why carry something that has got wheels? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOWihIDGSGM

I would think you would get your shirt dirty if it wasn't a bag.

-Accel. you'll end up with one shoulder after doing it. Just wheel it. For me it's not so practical although some bus transits in the country requires that you cover your bike. In that case it's a good idea otherwise just save your money for something else. |
If you really need it for multi modal, I wonder if you can go to a folding specialist store and see if there's a way to fit the Tern Trolley rack onto the bike. That item makes a 20 inch folder as convenient to wheel around as any brompton, if not easier. It would be as easy a rolling around any of those laptop bags. Don't try to use a shoulder strap for anything far, carrying a 20 inch folder really SUCKS! you'll think it's fine until you do it. Heck any folder over 20 lbs would be tough to lug around! For me it's just to the elevator and to my desk so I just grab it and go. But if I had to take the underground tubes and still wanted a 20 inch folder without going 16 inch, I would have bought the trolley rack for my Tern for sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuZpMC5_fMI

I carried my Brompton with one of these for a while: http://idmybag.com/images/IDmyBag%20Stap%20Front.JPG
Cheap from many luggage stores. Eventually I saw someone else leading their Brom along using the handlebars (which they hadn't folded down) and gave up on carrying it except for stairs. A skatewheel conversion (google it) helped too. |

This rack is cool but you need to somehow mount the extra tube to the frame so the seatpost can become a trolley handle.
